This 4 module course presents lectures, guided practices, and demos in a digestible format so that learnings can be easily integrated into coaching sessions and everyday life.
Culturally, we learn that independence is a coveted trait to be celebrated. As a result, our clients find themselves in a cyclical state of isolation and distress without the social support or resilience they need for long-term behavioral change. In addition to an inability and/or unwillingness to seek out healthful connection, self-affirming patterns of self-criticism often emerge. This inner critic can interrupt the client’s belief in self as a resilient and resourceful agent of change in their life, which can further halt positive emotions such as self-acceptance and compassion.
Studies have shown that the practice of compassion can increase a sense of belonging and support, overall motivation, and reduce the fear of failure (while increasing resilience after a failure). With the help of compassion-based practices, clients are more apt to both identify social supports and take personal responsibility for their behavior. Building Resilience & Social Support Through Compassion offers coaches structured lessons, relevant research, guided practice, and demonstrations on how these tools can improve client outcomes when applied in individual and group coaching sessions.
